LATE SHEIK IBRAHIM BAWA MAI SHINKAFA

Sheikh Ibrahim Bawa Mai Shinkafa was born in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, to Malam Abdullahi Bawa Danbatta and A'ishatu (Lami) both of blessed memory.

Mallam Abdullahi Bawa Danbatta, the father of Ibrahim Bawa Mai Shinkafa, was a trader and a merchant. He was said to be a very knowledgeable Islamic scholar and fluent in Arabic, attributes which were of extreme importance. 


Sheik Ibrahim Bawa attended his Primary School in BULA Primary School, Ibi year, later on, he proceeded to Arabic Teacher's College, Katsina. In the public service, served as the Headmaster and Principal of Islamiyya Primary School and Government Secondary School Ibi respectively. He finally retired. From public Service, he devoted himself to religious studies, learning, and preaching. He brought to bear the knowledge of his wide education and experience of the outside world to the service of the Muslim Ummah.

He was a founding member of Jama'atul Izatil Bid'ah Wa'ikamatis Sunnah. Through the reform of this body, he promoted the revival and propagation of Islam throughout West Africa. The extreme uprightness and benevolence of his life inspired the people to support his work of religious reform. He won the heart of his disciples/followers more by his generosity, mildness in preaching, and benevolent dispositions.


He was highly gifted and very knowledge He preached tolerance and the unity of Muslim ummah  He adopted his unique style of preaching wisdom, generosity, and mildness which made him by the will of Allah attract many people to follow him and make him popular accepted to the people and was elevated to a high position among the Islamic preachers in Nigeria He promoted the revival, and propagation of Islam throughout West Africa. The extreme uprightness and benevolence of his life inspired the people to support his work of religious reform. 

                                               
He continued to demand from the government, private sector, and the ULAMA, in his public speeches, sermons, cassettes, and any available forum, the need to revitalize our educational system and provide a conducive atmosphere for learning. This was the life he live until death on Wednesday 23rd Sha'aban which is equivalent to 1/12/1999 in Jos Plateau State, Nigeria.


The new of his death threw the entire Muslim community in Nigeria and beyond into grief, with the sudden death of a colossus, who through his ease, eloquence and self-confidence radiated all through the field of teaching and preaching in Nigeria and outside Nigeria the dust of this touch and Aura spiced by humility stamped in the minds of all who saw or heard him preach.   


May his gentle soul rest in peace
