Third Wave of COVID-19 Hits Nigeria

The COVID-19 pandemic is still affecting Nigeria, with the country currently experiencing a third wave of the virus. Lagos State, Nigeria's economic hub, is the epicenter of the outbreak, accounting for the majority of new cases and deaths. The state government has imposed restrictions on gatherings and urged citizens to comply with COVID-19 protocols, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.

The government is also ramping up vaccination efforts, with over 1 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine expected to arrive in the country in August. The government has set a target of vaccinating 40% of the population by the end of 2021, but vaccine hesitancy and limited supply remain major challenges.

The third wave of COVID-19 in Nigeria has underscored the need for citizens and the government to remain vigilant and take proactive measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
