PRESIDENT TINUBU CALLS FOR ENHANCED INFORMATION SHARING AMONG SECURITY AND INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES TO COMBAT TERRORISM
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emphasized the significance of information and intelligence sharing among security and intelligence agencies in the country, stating that withholding such resources could hinder efforts in the fight against terrorism. The President made these remarks during a visit to the newly constructed Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) facilities in Abuja.
While acknowledging the commendable measures taken to counter terrorism and the state-of-the-art infrastructure at the aforementioned locations, President Tinubu stressed the need to reinforce these efforts with knowledge. He affirmed that his administration recognized the paramount importance of prioritizing security in order to attain economic revitalization, prosperity, and development.
"I am pleased to witness our proactive measures in preparing ourselves. Terrorism is a global issue that necessitates our unified combat against it. We must eradicate it entirely. If Nigerians aspire for economic rejuvenation, prosperity, and development, we must accord security utmost priority."
"What I have observed here is a manifestation of intelligence-driven endeavors to combat terrorism. However, it must be complemented by knowledge. Counter-terrorism lacking in knowledge and intelligence will not serve any nation's interest. We shall collaborate on this endeavor."
"The collective efforts of our armed forces must be consolidated to maintain a singular focus on securing the nation. Disharmony within an orchestra is untenable. We must channel our efforts through a unified approach, sharing information, intelligence, and working with greater determination."
"Withholding information or intelligence is unacceptable. I am gratified to witness Nigeria's progress in this regard, and I assure you that we will make it a priority. That is why I am here today."
President Tinubu highlighted the significance of the visit to the newly established ONSA building, describing it as highly important. He expressed his commitment to providing necessary support to the country's security efforts.
