President Tinubu Inaugurates National Economic Council to Drive Economic Development

President Tinubu has officially inaugurated the National Economic Council (NEC), headed by Vice President Kashim Shatima, as part of his administration's efforts to drive economic development in Nigeria. In a ceremony held earlier today, the president appointed key members to the council, including the 36 State Governors, the governor of the Central Bank, the Minister of Finance, and other heads of relevant government agencies.

The primary objective of the NEC is to implement and provide valuable advice on the administration's blueprint for economic progress. President Tinubu expressed his commitment to impartial governance, ensuring that the administration operates in accordance with the Constitution and the rule of law. This move aims to foster transparency, accountability, and effective decision-making within the council.

During his address to the National Economic Council, President Tinubu highlighted the administration's unwavering dedication to improving the lives of Nigerians. He stressed the importance of governance that adheres to the Constitution and the rule of law, while also defending the nation against terrorism and various forms of criminal activity. Tinubu emphasized the administration's commitment to promoting economic growth, job creation, food security, poverty eradication, and the inclusion of women and youth in all developmental activities.

Tinubu underscored the administration's eight priority areas: security, economy, jobs, agriculture, and infrastructure. He highlighted the steps already taken by the government, such as ending fuel subsidies and unifying the foreign exchange rate. Tinubu assured that the government would continue to implement transformative measures aimed at stimulating economic rejuvenation without causing inflation.

Recognizing the challenges ahead, Tinubu urged the governors of Nigeria's 36 states and local government authorities to collaborate closely in rapidly developing the country's infrastructure. He emphasized that collaboration is essential for achieving pragmatic economic development and fulfilling the aspirations of the Nigerian people. Tinubu expressed his appreciation to the vice president and all council members, acknowledging their commitment to meaningful reforms that would have a positive impact on the lives of Nigerians.

Tinubu expressed confidence in the ability of the council to articulate people-oriented policies and programs that would address the pressing needs of the nation.

With the successful inauguration of the NEC, all eyes are now on the council to translate its resolutions and recommendations into effective government policies. The Nigerian populace eagerly anticipates the implementation of reforms that will bring about sustainable development, improved standards of living, and accelerated economic progress.

As Nigeria continues its journey towards economic prosperity, the NEC under Tinubu's leadership holds the promise of driving the nation from its potential status to a pragmatic economic powerhouse. The hopes of the Nigerian people rest on the council's ability to deliver on its mandate and spearhead impactful initiatives that will transform the nation's fortunes for the better.
