With only 24 hours left before the federal resignation deadline tied to the 2027 electoral timetable, no minister had formally stepped down as of Monday, despite the presidency's directive to political appointees who want to contest elective office.
The order, issued through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, cites Section 88(1) of the Electoral Act 2026 and covers ministers, advisers, assistants, heads of agencies, chief executives of government companies and other categories of presidential appointees.
