Security agencies say they are combing nearby bushes after a deadly attack in Jos North, even as local groups fear the death toll could be higher.
Police have confirmed 14 deaths in the Anguwan Rukuba attack in Plateau State, where a joint security operation is now under way to track the assailants.

The Plateau State Police Command says 14 people, including two women, were killed in the attack on Anguwan Rukuba in Jos North, confirming one of the most serious security incidents in the state in recent weeks.
According to the police, officers received a distress call around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday and Commissioner of Police Bassey Ewah led a response team to the area alongside tactical units and other security agencies. Twelve bodies were initially recovered at the scene, while two more were later found during a search of surrounding bushes.
Official Security Response
Police said a joint operation is now combing nearby areas to track and arrest the attackers, and additional deployments have been made to prevent a wider breakdown of law and order. The bodies of the victims have been moved for autopsy as investigators continue gathering evidence.
The official account, however, is not the only one in circulation. The Berom Youth Moulders Association said the number of people killed could be as high as 27, underscoring the confusion and fear that often follow attacks of this kind.
What is already clear is that the violence has sharply raised tension in Jos. The pressure is now on security agencies to restore calm quickly, establish the true scale of the killings and reassure communities that follow-up action will be visible and sustained.
